SRF Arena: A Global Safety Mechanism for AI?

In the SRF Arena the question was also raised of how the rapid progress of artificial intelligence can be regulated safely and responsibly. Experts discussed whether national measures are sufficient or whether a global safety mechanism, comparable to approaches in nuclear technology, would be necessary to minimise risks. In this reAct episode we engage with the proposals put forward in the Arena and ask: can an internationally coordinated regulatory framework really secure the digital future? We examine the opportunities and challenges of such an approach and place it in a broader technical context.
